Companies said move will set a new standard in forecasting and supply chain precision
Harvest House, one of Europe’s largest grower cooperatives for greenhouse vegetables, is expanding its partnership with AgTech scale-up Source.ag by rolling out Source’s advanced Harvest Forecast AI across its more than 600ha of tomato production.
Harvest House will transition from manual, weekly spreadsheet-based yield estimates to automated, daily-updated AI-powered yield forecasts. The technology provides detailed daily production data over a rolling 60-day window and seamlessly integrates via APIs into the cooperative’s CRM systems, greatly enhancing data availability for sales and operational planning.
“This expansion underscores our commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said Yvonne Geurten, Harvest House’s commercial director. “With Source.ag’s AI, we’re investing in unparalleled accuracy and timeliness in harvest forecasting, empowering us to reduce inefficiencies throughout the fresh produce supply chain.
“This reinforces our position as the leader in sustainable fresh produce production and highlights our shared vision to create more predictable and sustainable fresh produce supply chains.”
Geurten suggested that to fully realise the benefits of the move, demand/supply optimisation must be embraced throughout the entire supply chain. “She urged major retailers to further strengthen demand forecasting efforts and collaborate more closely with growers to better align supply with demand, ensuring the benefits of smarter cultivation are realised across the entire supply chain.
Aggregating forecasts by product segment, the AI technology enables Harvest House to align expected supply more closely with retail demand, thereby minimising food waste, enhancing planning precision, and improving consumer satisfaction.
“Forecasting remains one of fresh produce’s greatest challenges and a key driver of waste and financial losses for growers and retailers,” said Rien Kamman, CEO and co-founder of Source.ag.
“We are proud to support Harvest House in deploying AI-driven forecasting across all their tomato hectares. This collaboration also comes at a critical time: as climate change intensifies, extreme weather events are increasingly putting global food security under pressure. Ensuring fresh produce remains available and affordable for consumers is more important than ever. This partnership directly contributes to that goal by improving predictability, reducing waste, and strengthening resilience in the food supply chain.”
Specifically designed for high-tech greenhouse operations, Source.ag’s Harvest Forecast AI leverages real-time crop data, historical growing patterns, and proprietary algorithms to deliver reliable forecasts on volume, product specifications, and harvesting schedules, optimising the entire greenhouse-to-retail process.
